because perfection isn't easy

Anti-femme culture (and feminists aren’t immune to this) thinks the effort put into femme presentation is a waste of time and energy – or, at the very least, time and energy that could have been spent doing something more important. Anti-femme culture thinks “pretty” probably means “dumb” even when struggling against a culture obsessed with an impossibly narrow beauty standard. Anti-femme culture thinks you can’t do math AND do your nails.

We are humans! We contain multitudes! I do not think it is a problem that teenaged girls are interested in experimenting with presentation via fashion; I think it’s ridiculous and misogynist that they are ONLY encouraged to do that – and that boys don’t have the same freedom of expression.

I’m not bothered by prostitution. But I am bothered when I hear about students who take work that they would not otherwise take were it not for student loan debt. That’s not what education is supposed to do.
The Boston SlutWalk workshop schedule is now up! Topics range from language and polyamory to partner violence and men’s involvement in preventing sexual assault. All workshops are free and open to the public. So after you finish your strut downtown, head over to Encuentro 5, 5th floor at 33 Harrison Ave in Chinatown. Workshops start at 3 PM!
Sadly, as much as I would love to be there this Saturday, my presence is required elsewhere. I’ll be there in spirit! Just not in bondage tape.

I had the pleasure to meet Siobhan Connors, one of the organizers of Boston Slutwalk, during a sign-making event last Tuesday. Though new to event organizing, she and two other organizers have already generated massive interest. Almost 2,000 people RSVP’d yes on Facebook with another 1,300 pencilling in as maybes. The event has been covered in the Boston Metro and Huffington Post. Sex educator Megan Andelloux and dominatrix Princess Kali are attending. Kinksters in the Greater Boston Area are organizing a related meetup on Fetlife. This Slutwalk is growing, and judging from our spirited conversation, Siobhan is excited that so many people are passionate about fighting rape culture.
I’m excited, too! I’ll be putting more photos of upcoming events at my Flickr. Come May 7th at 12pm, I’ll be strutting in bondage tape at Government Center.

Inspired SlutWalk Toronto, two young ladies have organized a Boston Slutwalk! If you’re free on May 7th, come out to Government Center at 12pm. Meet fellow sluts and see Jaclyn Friedman, founder of WAM!, speak at the event! Further information about Boston Slutwalk and opportunities for you to contribute can be found at Tumblr, Twitter or Facebook.

You can be sure that I’ll be there. This will just be a continuation of my weekly post-liaison stroll.
